COVID-19 PROTOCOLS UPDATE
(7th April 2020)


Dear Clients,

We hope all of you are well during this turbulent period. With the increasingly tightened measures for social distancing taken during the circuit breaker period from 7th April to 4th May 2020, our clinic has updated its protocol:

1. While our clinic remains open, we are only allowed to attend to emergency and non-elective (urgent or potentially urgent) cases. It is IMPERATIVE that you call us for an appointment or to inform us of your arrival if it is an emergency. A mobile number will be given to you to call when you arrive.

2. We regret that you will not be served in person if you are serving a Stay Home Notice (SHN) or Quarantine Order (QO); we would like to stress that if you are serving a SHN or QO that you are not permitted to leave your designated area and therefore should not be the person that brings your pet in; please arrange for another individual such as a transporter, friend or relative to bring your pet in on your behalf. If anyone in your household is serving a SHN or a QO, or if anyone in your household has been tested positive for COVID-19, please call us to inform us AND declare this on the declaration form. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have no one to bring your sick pet in to us, please liase with your Quarantine Officer for assistance.

3. When you arrive, please call the mobile number given and you will be directed to a bench number outside the clinic to await admission of your pet to the clinic. Please fill in the declaration form electronically by scanning the QR code present on each bench. Please note that all dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier and all cats, rabbits and small mammals must be in a carrier with ONE patient per carrier.

4. We regret that we are NO LONGER permitting owners to enter the clinic. One of our nurses will come out in PPE and admit your pet into the clinic and into a consult room with the veterinarian. Please do not hold up this nurse while she is in the process of admitting your pet; current guidelines only allow this nurse transient contact with you. History will be obtained from you over the telephone by another nurse or the veterinarian.

5. If your dog is on a leash, please allow our nurse to place the clinic leash on your dog before releasing your own. If your pet is on a carrier, please keep a distance from our nurse while he/she takes the carrier in.

6. Please be ready to answer your handphone. Our veterinarian will contact you for more history (if required), or after he/she finishes their examination of your pet with a plan on further diagnostics (if required).

7. If your pet is to be admitted, an electronic form will be sent to you for an electronic signature to be performed. We regret that we are unable to permit visitation of patients during their hospitalisation period in this time. Video calls will be permitted once daily during the daily nurse update.

8. If your pet is to be discharged with medication, our nurse in PPE will bring your pet back to you. If your dog was on a leash, please place your leash back on the dog before our nurse releases the clinic leash. If your pet is in a carrier, please allow our nurse to place the carrier on the bench away from you.

9. Medications will be explained to you with appropriate social distancing. This may take place across a table behind a glass door or may be through a video call.

10. We would advise that all payment be carried out using PayNow or credit card to try to make payments as contactless as possible. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and we thank you in advance for your understanding. During this time, we hope you understand that we are seeking to keep our staff safe and healthy to ensure that we continue to be able to be able to attend to your pet’s healthcare needs.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: Accepted Cases
(7th April 2020)


Dear Clients,

As we have received a few enquiries about the cases that we are accepting from 7th April to 4th May 2020, we have created a list of the conditions based on AVS’s guidelines:

We accept EMERGENCIES:

🚑 Severe pain
🚑 Weakness, collapse, prolonged paresis or paralysis
🚑 Heat stroke
🚑 Anaphylactic shock or any severe allergic reaction
🚑 Breathing difficulties, including choking
🚑 Major trauma, such as fall from height, fracture(s), severe bleeding wound(s), bite wound(s), burn wound(s)
🚑 Toxin or venom exposure
🚑 Eye injuries
🚑 Straining to urinate with inability to produce urine
🚑 Rectal prolapse or uterine prolapse

We accept NON-ELECTIVE (urgent or potentially urgent) cases:
🚨 Severe vomiting and diarrhoea, resulting in lethargy or weakness
🚨 Painful and severe skin conditions
🚨 Blood in urine or straining to urinate while still producing urine
🚨 Eye infections
🚨 Dental diseases that prevent or impinge on food or water consumption
🚨 Rabbits & small mammals: inappetance of 12 hours or more or decreased faecal production
🚥 Vaccinations for puppies and kittens, or adult dogs and cats for export or at high risk of exposure to infectious disease.

We understand that these lists are not exhaustive and that there may be grey areas, depending on your pet’s condition.
